As many as 200 rare species of fish will be seen in Mumbai from Wednesday at a rare exhibition. Big fish such as shark, piranha, oscar, catfish, and discus would remain the main attraction of the exhibition.

There are other species too — six bar angel, Achilles tang, fancy clown fish, hermit crab, kamfa plower horn fish, maroon clown, purple tang fish, red rose anemone, sand star fish, shohel tang fish, rami rose, banana cichlids, pecock cichlids, moray eel — that will be part of Aqua Life 2014.

"This will be for the fist time that Mumbaikars will witness touch pool tank, architectural tank, and Japanese koi fish tank, as well as a photo gallery of exotic birds from Africa in Aqua Life 2014 exhibition," said Laukik Soman of Laukik Creations, which has organised the show.

He also said various colours of fish, their movements, and their fun can be experienced in 3x3 foot space as well. Laukik Creations, Pune, has tried to bring 200 such tanks in a one place for a huge display.

"The exhibition will also provide information about instruments for setting up an aquarium and how to use them. It will explain where to keep a fish tank as per vaastu shastra," said Soman, adding, "We are also presenting a huge display of 18 feet of exotic plants this time."

Soman said, "What is significant is that even doctors have agreed that day-to-day stress can be reduced by 50% only by observing a fish tank for 15 minutes."

(The exhibition is at the Kandivali Recreation Club in Kandivli (West) from October 1 to 6 between 10am and 9pm.)
