Rapist security chief's phone sent to lab

The phone allegedly contains obscene clips of the victim using which the accused had blackmailed and raped her over a period of five months.

The Gamdevi police sent the mobile phone of 38-year-old Datta Kothavale, security head of Tulsidas Gopaldas Pavilion trust located at Mahalaxmi, to the Forensic Laboratory in Kalina on Monday. Kothavale was earlier arrested for raping a 35-year-old woman at Mahalaxmi.

The phone allegedly contains obscene clips of the victim using which the accused had blackmailed and raped her over a period of five months.

After Kothavale’s arrest the police scanned his phone but did not find the clip and therefore sent it for analysis in case the accused had deleted it.
