Rape accused IPS officer Sunil Paraskar has been found guilty of professional misconduct after a departmental inquiry was conducted against him.

Police commissioner Rakesh Maria had ordered Joint Commissioner of Police (Administration) Vivek Phansalkar to conduct the inquiry to probe if Paraskar has violated any service rules.

Based on the chargesheet to be filled by the Secretary rank IAS officer, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will decide on the action to be taken against Paraskar.

The state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had initiated a preliminary inquiry in a disproportionate assets case against Paraskar, who has been booked for allegedly raping a city-based model.

Charges of molestation and intimidating a woman have also been slapped against Paraskar and his brother.

In a 'Saamna' editorial on August 2, the Shiv Sena had extended its support to Paraskar who stands accused of rape by a Mumbai-based model.
