Bollywood actor Ranjeet's 42-year-old domestic servant was found dead in the swimming pool of his Juhu bungalow on Wednesday. Following preliminary investigations, the Juhu police have registered case of accidental death. They said that the deceased, Nagraj Gauda, was depressed because he was suffering from several ailments and that could have been the reason for his extreme step.
Gauda, a native of Karnataka, was working as Ranjeet's domestic help and driver for over three decades. He had been staying in a servant's room at actor's bungalow, Jeeva, on AB Nayar Road along with his family. After the death of his wife ten years ago, his brother Devraj and mother had moved into the bungalow from their native place.
Senior police inspector Rajendra Chavan of Juhu police station said, "Gauda was suffering from diabetes and kidney problem for several years. He was depressed over the condition of his health for the past few days. He had told the actor's wife that he was fed up with his life."
According to the police, the incident came to light around 1.30am on Wednesday when Ranjeet's wife Nazneen Bedi went to the terrace to check Gauda's health and found him floating in the swimming pool.
"The actor's wife and son visited Gauda's room often to check on his health condition. After seeing Gauda's body, she immediately informed other family members and the police was called," said Chavan.
"The was taken to Cooper Hospital where Gauda was declared dead," added the police officer.
"We have recorded statements of the family members of the deceased and the actor. It seems there is no foul play in the case. So, we have recorded a case of accidental death.
Further investigation is on," added Chavan.
