Bollywood actor Rani Mukerji on Wednesday visited the North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja 2014 to seek blessings of Maa Durga. Besides the Mukerji family members, who await the festival every year to worship the goddess, the mandal is expecting more than 25,000 devotees from various cities at the pandal.

There will be performances daily in the evening by well-known artists Usha Uthup, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Javed Ali, Shaan, Monali Thakur and Kavita Krishnamurthy. And, like every year, the Puja will be streamed live on www.northbombaydurgapuja.com

This is the Puja's 66th year. The trust was founded in 1948 by Shahdhar Mukherjee of Bombay Talkies, JM Bhadra, and other family members and like-minded people from Santa Cruz. Since inception, the association has been promoting Bengali culture and awareness by hosting cultural programmes every year, and celebrating prominent events such as Saraswati Puja, Paila Baishak, Rabindra Jayanti, and Durga Puja.

The Puja and festivities will take place at Hotel Tulip Star on Vaikunthlal Mehta Road in Juhu. This year, the decor and theme is TERA Cotta — Earthen look. Because of the devotees' dedication, their 'Bhog' has become a specialty, making the event even more renowned, as they serve lunch and dinner to all devotees over the five-day festivities.
