With the beginning of Chaitra Navratri from April 8, Thanekars are in for a nine day festive celebration at Jambhlinaka. Like every year, Anand Charitable Trust has brought in something different for Thanekars at their puja pandal in Thane. "We have created a replice of Sriyantra Ashtalaxmi mandir of Rajasthan," says an official from the trust.

Created by famous bollywood art director Sanjay Dhabade, the replica has a 40x40 feet main temple where the idol of goddess Ashta laxmi has been kept. And a sri yantra which is known to bring in prosperity has also been made behind the statue of the goddess. The grand entrance of the Ashta laxmi temple has been created and statues of various beings from hindu mythology like yakshas, devdoot, fairies, etc., have been made.

Moreover, 108 types of ganpati idols mentioned from Shivpurana have also been recreated with the help of Dilip Vaiti.

The nine days of navratri till April 15 have various activities lined up for everyone to participate. This include kirtans (devotional songs) by varkari sect, daily aartis, daily hawans (holy fire) at 9 homkund (fire pit) in the pandal, felicitation and musical programs, among other things.

Since navratri is incomplete without dandiya there will be two days of dandiya and ras garba. On Sunday there will be Bhondla and marathi dandiya while on April 11, there will be gujarati dandiya raas and members of gujarati community will also be felicitated.

As the state is being hit by drought this year there will also be a special Varunyag (havan to lord of air) held among other havans with the prayer to bring in more rains this year.

So get set to enjoy these fun and devotion filled nine days of chaitra navratri.
