Rains causes traffic snarls in the Mumbai

Traffic snarls were reported in several parts of the city on Tuesday, because of continuous and heavy rains. Waterlogging further added to the congestion.

According to the traffic police, slow moving traffic was reported in several parts during peak hours. The situation was restored to normalcy by late afternoon and then towards 4.30pm jams were reported again.

Traffic police said heavy waterlogging was reported in near Bhavans College, Gandhi market in Matunga, Dadar TT, Hindmata, Parel TT, SV Road, Andheri subway, Lower Parel, P D'Mello Road, Milind Nagar, Mahalaxmi and Juhu galli.

Vehicles were also reported stuck at the north-bound stretch of Haji Ali, creating backlog to Wilson College. On the south-bound stretch, the backlog went up till Worli diary. On the south-bound road of Parel TT backlog stretched up till Dadar TT.

Traffic police used mass messaging services to inform motorists to use Eastern Freeway, P D'Mello Road or RAK Road for travelling to South Mumbai. Traffic was also reported on SVS Road due to Angaraki Chaturthi.

Heavy traffic was reported at Lilavati junction, Bandra to Sea Link, MG Road leading to Ghatkopar (W) railway station, Juhu Tara Road, Eastern Freeway, Veera Desai Road, Elphinstone bridge, Dadar Circle to Lalbaug flyover, 60 Feet Road in Dharavi, SCLR exit at CST Road, Aarey check-naka at Goregaon (E), Powai to Saki Naka via Chandivli, Mahalaxmi station, LJ Road towards Mahim, among other areas.

Several potholes have been reported on the newly repaired Dindoshi flyover in Malad (E).
