Rain, water-logging jam road traffic in Mumbai again

Traffic snarls were reported in several parts of the city on Thursday owing to heavy rainfall. Water-logging was also reported in many areas compounding the congestion and leading to bumper-to-bumper traffic.

According to the traffic police, heavy traffic was reported at Lilavati junction, MG Road leading to Ghatkopar (West) railway station, Juhu Tara Road, Eastern Freeway, Veera Desai Road, Elphinstone bridge, Dadar cirle to Lalbaug flyover, 60 Feet Road in Dharavi, Santa Cruz-Chembur Link Road exit at CST Road, Aarey check naka at Goregaon (East), Powai to Saki Naka via Chandivli, Mahalaxmi station area, LJ Road towards Mahim, Senapati Bapat Marg in Dadar and Bandra-Kurla Complex.

Water-logging was reported in areas near Bhavan's college, Gandhi Market in Sion, Dadar TT, Hindmata, SV Road, Andheri subway, pockets of Lower Parel, P D'mello Road, Milind Nagar, Powai Hiranandani and Juhu galli, among others, said an officer from the Mumbai traffic police.

"The Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road, Pedder Road, Juhu circle and Western Express Highway close to Dindoshi flyover were particularly jammed. We circulated text messages informing about the traffic situation and advising motorists to take alternative routes," said an official from the Mumbai traffic police, adding that additional personnel were deployed to ease traffic movement.

Bumper-to-bumper traffic was also reported at several stretches of Western Express Highway, the traffic police said.
