The State Cooperative Department plans to bring out a housing manual to speed up the process of solving complaints of cooperative housing societies.

This was announced by cooperative societies commissioner (Pune division), Madhukar Choudhari, at a seminar on problems of housing societies organised by the Public Concern for Governance Trust (PCGT) in the city on Thursday.

Normally complaints by cooperative societies are directed to the registrar of cooperative societies. Choudhari said, “Some of these have to be answered by civic bodies, the police and other departments.”

According to Choudhari, in many cases, members need to approach the consumer court or the civic body. “We are bringing out the manual in two months to precisely guide societies in this matter,” he said, adding that of the 82,000 cooperative societies in the state, only 180 had got deemed conveyance.
