‘Proud Sridevians’ to pay tribute through Karma

The group of fans will be going for a special screening of the 1986 hit movie on Sunday

Thousand of fans queued up in Lokhandwala and outside Celebration Club to pay their respects to late actress Sridevi. Stories abounded of people who, in some or the other way, were inspired by her.

Among these is a group of fans who have a club and are going to pay tribute to her through a special movie screening.

This Sunday, fans of Sridevi have decided to give a tribute to the late actress by coming together and watching her 1986 film ‘Karma’. The fans got to know about the screening of the film to be held by Mukta Arts, they are planning to go for the screening.

A fan club of Sridevi named as ‘Proud Sridevian’ started the fan club after her return to the big screen in 2012 through the movie English Vinglish.

“We have got to know about the screening of her film Karma, this Sunday. We will be posting the information on our social media fan club page so that more fans come to know about the screening. Around 30 to 35 fans from the group are expected to come,” said, Rajan Naidu.

Fans of Sridevi started gathering outside the Celebration Club at Lokhandwala 6 am onward. While a long queue of fans waited for several hours before the gate of the club opened for the common public, a few of them had to return without getting a last glimpse.

“I went twice inside the Celebration Club to get a last glimpse. She has been an inspiration for us. She was like an anti-depression pill for many. Often, I have watched her films whenever sadness hit me,” said Deepa Bhatia, a 43-year-old housewife, who visited Sridevi’s Andheri residence every day since news of her death broke.

Just like Deepa, Naseem Sayed too visited Sridevi’s building every day since Sunday. Sayed, said, “We saw her last time during the screening of ‘Lamhe’. She was a very polite and caring lady. On Monday, I also went to Walkeshwar to perform Jal Arpan puja for her. Since three days, we haven’t cooked anything in our house.”
