In this time and age, when people are moving to mobile apps for better consumer connectivity, the BEST Undertaking proposed setting up call centres. This however, angered the BEST Committee members who asked the administration to withdraw the proposal.

The Committee members stated that the BEST has failed to disseminate information on social media sites like Twitter. The BEST Undertaking hardly has 432 followers despite the fact that they supply electricity to 10 lakh consumers and ferry 25 lakh people in their buses. Instead, the administration should look at setting up a mobile app that would prove useful for people and would have options to connect with them.

The call centre was meant for grievance redressal which was termed as 'obsolete' by the members. More so, the existing helpline numbers are of little help to people, who time and again have been complaining that the operators either do not take calls or have little idea about issues.

Sunil Ganacharya, member of BEST Committee, said, that there is no point spending money on the project as the society as a whole are moving towards smarter technologies. "We live in a digital age and yet BEST is still stuck with call centres. We have rejected the proposal," he said.

The proposal had come earlier in June, where the committee members unanimously said that the proposal had no noteworthy details.
