In his complainant, victim Paras Kishanlal Kothari said his wife has been suffering from depression and he was under financial problems when he met the duo on October 25.
A 39-year-old jewellery shop owner has registered a case against two people who cheated him of cash and jewellery worth over Rs17.55 lakh between October to January. The cops have identified the accused, who are residents of Thane and are at large.
In his complainant, victim Paras Kishanlal Kothari said his wife has been suffering from depression and he was under financial problems when he met the duo on October 25.
"I met the duo in October and I fell prey to their sugar-coated talks. The two claimed that my wife is possessed and they assured me that they will cure my wife as they know bit of black magic. The two also help me in solving my financial problems," said Kothari, who has his shop in Dhokali Naka in Kapurbawdi. He added that the duo had assured him of performing pujas and havans to cure his wife, who is in her 30s.
"But they never took any initiative and kept on delaying. On enquiry, they would give me excuses. In spite of contacting them several times when I failed to get things moving, I registered a complaint," he said.
The duo accused have been identified as Narayan Giri and Guru Naame Kalunath, who are in their 30s and have been charged under section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of 34 of the Indian Penal Code and under sections of Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Ordinance and other relevant sections.
A cop said, "We are suspecting them to be in Gujarat and Rajasthan and we are trying to trace them. Citizen should be alert of such people. We are hopeful to them arrest them soon."
