After the release of statistical data report related to the state of health in the city, the Praja Foundation received two letters from the BMC’s Health Department stating that the report published by the organisation on Wednesday and in May are false.

As per the letter copies, the details released by the NGO on Wednesday related to TB, dengue and other diseases as well as the report on malnutrition in BMC school in the month of May are incorrect.

According to the civic authority, there are many changes and new strategies/protocols implemented over the years due to which the interpretation of the statistical data released is not correct.

The Praja Foundation’s Project Director claims that the change in the method is not a concerned criteria. The civic authority should think about the further steps to be taken to reduce the number of malnourished children. Milind Mhaske, Project Director, said, “We are looking at it in a positive way. At least the government has reacted and raised the points. We will take some time to draft answers to the question raised by the authority. We had to give RTI to all local wards because the main source fails to give the information.”

Dr Padmaja Keskar, BMC’s Executive Health Officer, said,“There are higher chances of duplication when they conducted random survey of 20,000 household. The report does not go by the definition. They never consulted us.”
