A month after the incident came to light, investigations by Powai police into the alleged sodomy case of two minor boys have a hit a roadblock after the death of both victims. Meanwhile, the father of the 13-year-old victim is now demanding justice and has threatened to protest if the accused are not arrested.

On July 12, the 13-year-old was rushed to Sion hospital after he complained of continuous vomiting after he allegedly consumed poison. The boy was later shifted to KEM hospital where he died on July 25 during treatment. The teenager later revealed that he, along with his 10-year-old friend, had consumed poison. The latter died after consuming poison and his body was exhumed on July 25 and his viscera was sent to Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis.

"The video recorded by the father of the victim has not yet revealed any clue regarding the incident, but on receiving the complaint, we registered the case under section 377 (unnatural sex) of the Indian Penal Code and under Protection of Children From Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), but we are yet to get a lead in the case," said a senior police officer privy to investigations.

"We have questioned 26 persons so far, including friends of the boys, but they are unsure of the boys' closeness to any other person. We, however, are sure the act could have been committed by a person known to the boys. They had stopped attending tuition classes since July 6," said the officer.

"A special team is also probing the case along with the crime branch. We are sure of getting a clear picture in the coming days," said the officer.

Meanwhile, the father of 13-year-old has demanded justice for his son and threatened to protest if the accused are not arrested.

"We have left the city and are now in our native place to conduct the last rites of my son. I am given only assurances by the police that the accused will be arrested, but they have failed to investigate the case properly," the father told DNA.

"If the accused are not arrested, our entire family will protest and demand justice," said the father.
