Arch rivals Belapur MLA Manda Mhatre and former Thane guardian minister Ganesh Naik sharing the same dais and disgruntled buyers of Hex World gathering to protest against the developer for not starting construction work are among the events that will be unfolding during the inauguration of Builders Association of Navi Mumbai (BANM) property exhibition from Friday.

Union minister Nitin Gadkari is the chief guest for the function. The invite sent by the builders' association mentions names of Naik and Mhatre as guest of honour, along with other members of the Naik family, like former MP Sanjeev Naik, mayor Sagar Naik.

Both Mhatre and Naik are expected to be present at the mega property exhibition at Cidco exhibition centre in Vashi. Mhatre has already dismissed reports in a section of media which said her name was not mentioned in the list of guest of honour.

"When the members of the builders' association first approached me, I told them that I will not be able to attend the event as I would be in Nagpur for winter session. Later, they informed me that Union minister Nitin Gadkari will be attending the function. And since he is our senior leader, it is my duty to be present there. The organisers have now made changes to the invite to include my name," confirmed Mhatre, who was in Nagpur for the assembly session.

However, all eyes will be on Naik and Mhatre as the political rivals are set to share the dais during the property exhibition. Mhatre had trounced Naik in the recently held assembly polls by a margin of 1,400 votes to bag the MLA seat from Belapur. Both were members of Sharad Pawar-led NCP before Mhatre parted ways with the party to join BJP ahead of assembly polls.

And as talks are making rounds, Naik himself is likely to join BJP in the next few days. He has been maintaining a low profile ever since the results were declared.

Another event which may unfold at the venue during the inauguration ceremony is protest by buyers of Hex World, who have planned to gather at the venue with placards, warning visitors at the exhibition site not to purchase flats from Hex Corp.

The realty firm has already dismissed allegations levelled against them and said the matter is sub judice and aggrieved buyers should approach the court of law for redressal.
