Policyholder, doctor held for cheating risk firm on forged documents

The Wadala TT police recently arrested a doctor and another person for allegedly duping a mediclaim company by claiming insurance using forged documents. The arrested two have been identified as BAMS doctor Arjun Rajput and Manoj Saudane.

According to the police, Saudane had a policy in his name and also in the name of his mother-in-law. Investigations revealed that Saudane along with the doctor forged documents and showed the policyholders were admitted in hospital. Suhas Garud, senior inspector, Wadala TT police station, said: "The company has reported five instances of bogus claims in which it has been duped of around Rs1 lakh. We suspect that there are more such cases."

The police believe two groups from Bhiwandi and Nashik are involved in this and are trying to nail more accused. "There are two groups that are involved in this and we are investigating further," said Garud. The police have booked them for cheating and forgery.
