The Thane Police's Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC), who are probing the extortion racket allegedly run by Dawood Ibrahim's brother, Iqbal Kaskar, and his two aides, will be questioning another relative of Dawood based in Nashik who was constantly in touch with Kaskar, the police said.

The police are also on the lookout for five other persons, related to D-gang, who were actively involved in the racket. Meanwhile, sources said that Kaskar also told the police that he was in touch with one of his brother's, Anees, and Dawood's wife, Mehajabeen, in Pakistan.

According to the police, it has been revealed during interrogation that Kaskar would meet his kin, Jaggi Kokani, who is based in Nashik and he would often come to meet him at his place. The police said Kaskar stated that he also visited Nashik several times in the recent past for some work, indicating that the extortion racket was not only limited to Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

The police are now ascertaining if the racket was being operated in Nashik city as well."Kaskar mentioned that he met Kokani several times and we suspect that there is a connection. We have also come across five names of history-sheeters attached with the D-gang. We have identified them and efforts are underway to nab them," said Abhishek Trimukhe, DCP (Crime), Thane police. The police said, Kaskar claimed that Mehajabeen had gone to Dubai in 2016 to meet his family when he had spoken with her. Kaskar informed that he received all the information and messages from Dawood through Anees and Mehajabeen.
