Police stations without basic amenities

There are many police stations across Thane city that are functioning in a makeshift arrangement, lacking proper facilities. These police officers, in fact, use their contacts to fulfill basic needs. dna checks few police stations and chowkies across the city to analyse the condition.

Kasarvadavali police station
This police station situated at ghodbunder road, caters a big area starting from mulla baug, hiranandani estate, Bhayander pada till gaymukh. But you would be surprised to know that there is no proper sitting arrangement for the staff members. The officers have to bear the heat and fight with bad water facility as well. Additional commissioner of police, Administration DM Phadtare informs, "This station was made in a rush as the area was expanding fast. For having a proper permanent structure, lot of approvals are required which is a time-consuming process. Regarding other police stations, he said we are trying to look into the demands and decide what could be done."

Azad nagar police chowki
Azad nagar police chowki was constructed with the effort of local corporator some four years back and the small structure has a sitting capacity for just five to seven officials. Kirti Rana, a constable informs, "Though we have bare minimum facility, but we still lack proper work condition like comfortable chair and good fans and in fact the premises too, needs to be renovated as it is a temporary one."

Kalwa police station
The condition of kalwa police station is also not very good and despite many complaints, the police station has not been renovated. The police officials from the police station informs, "The condition is so bad that during monsoons, the roofs leak and the entire station is filled with water. We have been trying for long for a permanent structure, but it seems it's an endless wait."

Wagle estate police station
The police officials informs, "Other than a proper place to work, we also need enough vehicles and man force but at times, we have to manage everything on our own. People do complain about us but we can't help when we don't have a vehicle, we cannot rush to the spot. Hence, we do take help of other people to get the work done."

Ajit Tadi, a constable from Kapurbawdi police station informs, that Manpada police chowki was demolished because it came into the way of road widening. Now, the question arises that, when every day, new illegal construction is flourishing, the developers are getting all the approvals without any delay, then why cannot we be ensured of a good and hygienic working place, who serve in need of the hour.
