Police housing part of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: CM Devendra Fadnavis

Stating that state Government has prepared a plan for the redevelopment of dilapidated police colonies in the state for building 20 thousand houses, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday informed the state assembly that Police housing has been included in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

MLAs Sunil Shinde, Santosh Danve, Gautam Chabukswar, Dr Balaji Kinikar, Aslam Shaikh, Abu Azmi, Narendra Pawar, Suresh Gore, Kisan Kathore, Ganpat Gaikwad, Mangesh Kudalkar had raised the issue of dilapidated police colonies by calling attention motion. While replying to it, Fadnavis informed that state government has sanctioned Rs 208 crore towards housing loans for police personnel, and interest on this housing loan would be paid by the government.

Fadnavis said that this money is sanctioned so that police personnel can fulfil dreams of having their own home. He informed that for providing houses to police employees, that too in cheaper rates, police housing is included in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

Shiv Sena MLA Shinde pointed out that after a roof of public toilet collapsed in Police Colony at Worli, resident Vandana Kadam who is a housewife was injured in the incident. He said that claims by the administration on maintenance have been proved false. He, along with other members have pointed out that 19 police colonies in Kurla-Nehrunagar are dilapidated, and many other police colonies in various parts of the state are in the same condition. Fadnavis assured that redevelopment of dilapidated police colonies would be undertaken and a plan for building 20 houses has been prepared for the same.
