On Tuesday morning, a foul smell started coming from the bushes near the dilapidated quarters. It was then that the locals spotted the badly decomposed body. The police later recovered a mobile phone lying near the body.

A Pant Nagar police officer said, "We are investigating whether it is a suicide or a murder. There are no injury marks on Mehta's body. But we have come to know, from his brother, that the deceased had spoken about having gotten threats from some man with whom he had a fight a few months ago." Pant Nagar police have registered a case of accidental death in this regard.
