A Special Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Act (POCSOA) court has quashed the bail plea of a 50-year-old preacher of Quran, Abdulla Naze, who has been accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl.

While denying bail, the court passed remarks on the moral values of the accused as he was a religious preacher.

Judge Rekha Pandhare said, "The accused is the one who take up the role of a religious teacher who teaches Quran to the children and has assaulted a student of a tender age." The case dates back to 2017 when the 10-year-old child complained of the teacher performing 'dirty activities' on her. In her complaint filed before the J J Marg police, she said that she has been sexually assaulted by her Quran teacher on four occasions, the last one being on October 10, 2017.

The girl, in her complaint, had also said that she initially did not understand what was wrong. However, when realized it later, she informed her mother who eventually filed a complaint.

The police, in their investigation, have concluded that there are allegedly similar complaints coming from other parents in the locality they are going to add them in the chargesheet against the accused.

Meanwhile, the accused in his bail application, said that he was falsely implicated in the matter by a few anti-social elements of the society with an intention to defame him. The accused also claimed that the victim was lying as she did not raise a voice against him for the first three instances. The court said, "It is not expected from a girl of 10 years to know that things happening with her were bad."
