A woman's dramatic cries for help got her constable friend – with whom she was riding pillion – arrested by the JJ Marg police for rash, negligent and drunk driving on Saturday morning.

In the wee hours of Saturday, at around 3am, the JJ Marg police said that the constable, identified as Anjum Pinjari, was riding his motorcycle with a woman as pillion. They were headed towards JJ flyover from Byculla, with Pinjari apparently speeding.

An on duty beat marshal heard the woman scream for help, after which he chased the two-wheeler. However, Pinjari lost control of his bike and fell at the JJ junction.

"The beat marshal intercepted the duo and when questioned, the pillion rider informed that she was screaming as Pinjari was riding the bike way over the speed limit. Our constable brought them to the police station after which a case of rash, negligent and drunk driving was registered against the constable," said a police official attached with the JJ Marg police.

Police sources also said that when brought to the police station, the woman said she had no complaint against the constable.
