Pillai's Alegria promises to go much ahead than any other college fest

Alegría- The Festival of Joy, the biggest youth festival of the KM Vasudevan Pillai College, Panvel, will set the highest benchmark among college fests in the city with its prodigious budget. The fiscal estimate of Alegria will be around Rs1.75 crore, where around 10,000 students from across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai will be celebrating the Festival of Joy.

The mega college fest will take place between January 28 and February 1 at the Pillai College campus in Panvel.

The fest will go much ahead than any of the college events that ever happened in the city. “This year, the budget is more than the previous year and is likely to set a new benchmark. The budget will be around Rs1.75 crore,” said Nivedita Shreyans, chief PRO of the Pillai group.

Around 100 students of Pillai college performed the first flash mob (group dance) on Tuesday evening at Inorbit Mall, Vashi, as part of the promotion of the mega college fest.

A number of famous celebrities will be a part of the exciting inter-collegiate festival. The event will begin with Farhan Akhtar Live. “The Bollywood celebrity and youth icon of India, Farhan Akthar, will be starring at the Rock Night at Alegria with his band ‘Farhan Akthar Live’,” said Franav Pillai, deputy CEO of the Pillai group, who is the brainchild of Alegría.

Another important celebrity at the fest will be Elli Avram, of Big Boss fame. This Swedish–Greek beauty, made everyone fall in love with her on the reality show Big Boss and the movie Mikey Virus.

Ashwani Ponnappa, Olympic and Commonwealth gold medalist, will also be seen cheering the crowd. “She can be a role model for many youths and her presence will surely rock the event,” said Pillai.

He added that around 40 to 50 college students are expected to celebrate the Festival of Joy. The other attraction of the mega college fest are Yo Yo Honey Singh, International DJ Yves V,  Tomorrowland, among a few celebrities, whose names are yet to be decided.

Alegría is a fun-filled and exciting inter-collegiate festival highlighted by dance and music competitions, treasure hunts, mind games, workshops, technical and literary events, fashion shows, celebrity appearances, sports and community service initiatives.

“All the events are meticulously planned to help the youth think, act and perform out-of-the-box in challenging environments. The unique element of this festival is that it welcomes parents and faculty to participate, by attending various events, promotional activities and fun workshops,” said Shreyans.
