A young man returning from a photography class forgot his bag containing valuable equipment in the autorickshaw in Vasai on Sunday. By the time he realised his bloomer, the auto was gone.

Paritosh Pai was returning to his house in Manickpur after a class on animation and photography at a private institute, when the incident happened.

He says he had placed one of his bags in the space just behind the seat and completely forgot to pick it up when he got out. The bag contained his camera, a flash, some focus lights and battery worth about Rs50,000.

“I had one bag with me and the equipment was in the other bag. After I had taken a few steps down the road I realised I did not have the other bag,” the 21-year-old said.

Still in shock over losing the equipment, he put up a message to his acquaintances on WhatsApp appealing to them for help. Some of them got out and tried to locate the auto.

“We looked around for nearly three hours, but could not find the auto. So we decided to return home,” said Pai.

Little did he know it was his lucky day. Minutes later, the auto driver spotted Pai and handed over the bag to him.

Rajesh Kumar Mishra, the auto driver, said: “The youth stepped out of the auto at the railway station and walked away. A passenger who entered the vehicle saw the bag and brought it to my notice. I started looking for the boy and was happy to find him.”
