The Ministry of Urban Development, too, has raised objection to the "exorbitant hike in the fares" recommended by the FFC. The FFC has recommended a fare of Rs10 per station and a maximum of Rs110 for end-to-end travel on the 11.4-km metro line.
Although the Union government is ready to review and reject the recommendations of the Fare Fixation Committee (FFC) for Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar metro, it is unable to proceed due to the ongoing petition on the issue in the Bombay High Court.
As per a communication received by Member of Parliament Kirit Somaiya from Union minister of urban development M Venkaiah Naidu, "The proposal of the government of Maharashtra to reject the recommendations of FFC and get fares reviewed by a fresh FFC was examined in consultation with the ministry of law and justice. As the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has filed a writ petition against the recommendations of the FFC in the High Court of Bombay, which is still pending, it would not be appropriate for MoUD to take a decision in this matter at this stage."

The state government has also asked for an audit for the first metro line, but it is yet to commence. The MMRDA has been fighting for lower fares, which it is of the opinion, is as per the concession agreement signed before the construction of the metro line commenced. The Mumbai Metro One Private Limited, being a metro rail administrator, however, is currently levying a fare of up to Rs40 to commute between Versova and Ghatkopar.
