After the Sessions court rejected his bail plea, Sheena Bora murder case accused Peter Mukherjea has approached the Bombay High Court. On Monday, the court issued a notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and directed them to file a reply on July 7.

Peter was the last one to be arrested in the case by the CBI. In his bail plea, he stated that there was nothing incriminating against him in the charge sheet. Besides him, his wife Indrani, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and her former driver Shyamvar Rai, who has now become an approver, have also been arrested in the case.

The bail plea further stated that after filing of the charge sheet, the probe doesn't have a fixed deadline, and merely saying that the investigation was still on was not a fair ground to keep a man in custody indefinitely. Peter was arrested on the day CBI filed its first charge sheet in November last year, against Indrani, Khanna and Rai, who were arrested last August.

According to the prosecution, Sheena was murdered on April 24, 2012. The crime came to light later, after the arrest of Rai in another case in August 2015. Indrani Mukherjea, the prime accused in the case, her former husband Khanna and driver Rai allegedly strangled Sheena (24), Indrani's daughter from an earlier relationship, inside a car in April 2012. Her body was found in a forest in Raigad.
