Even though a part of the southbound stretch of Dindoshi flyover on Western Express Highway was thrown open for traffic on Wednesday, major traffic snarls were reported during peak hours. The southbound stretch had been closed for four wheelers over the past four days.

On Wednesday, the snarls on the southbound stretch was reported up to Kandivli (East) even after many motorists opted for alternative routes such as Link Road and SV Road. Major chaos was reported between 8am and 11am while the remaining part of the day witnessed slow-moving traffic.

Officials said that they were taking all measures possible to ease congestion on the highway.

According to a traffic police officer, on Wednesday, one of the three southbound stretches and a northbound stretch were opened for southbound vehicles.

On Saturday, the traffic police had completely shut the southbound stretch and said that one and a half lanes would again be made available on Monday. However, on Monday, traffic officers said that the flyover would be available for four-wheelers only on Tuesday as they did not want to disturb the concretisation work on it. However, they allowed two-wheelers to use the flyover. But even on Tuesday, only two-wheelers were allowed on the flyover.
