Passport scam busted, duo arrested by Thane police

The Thane police department busted an International racket of bogus passports and visas and arrested two persons in possession of 142 passports of India and Nepal. The scam runs into crore of rupees as hundreds of job aspirants have been cheated.

Noor-ul- Ansari, 35 and Mohammed Shah, 38 both residents of Thane were on the run since November 2015 after Tasavur Ali complained against them at Rabodi police station for cheating him and his five friends. The duo promised them jobs in Kuwait as they gave them a fake visa with similar serial numbers along with air tickets and charged them Rs 4,80,000. A formal complaint was registered when the accused took their passports and fled.

They were booked under sections 468, 471(using as genuine forged), 420 (cheating), 409 (breach of trust by agent), and 34(common intent) of the Indian Penal Code at Rabodi police station. "They have cheated several people and we found 142 passports of India and Nepal. In their computers and laptop we also found visas of various countries", said a Thane police official.
