Parmar suicide: Police custody for corporators

The four accused corporators are Sudhakar Chavan, Vikrant Chavan, Hanmant Jagdale and Najib Mullah.

The four corporators, who were arrested in the Suraj Parmar suicide case, were given police custody till January 25 by the Thane sessions court on Monday. The four accused were arrested on December 5. Initially, they were in police custody till December 14. Later, they were sent to judicial custody till December 28.

The four accused corporators are Sudhakar Chavan, Vikrant Chavan, Hanmant Jagdale and Najib Mullah.

In order to get more clues into the case, Thane police have quizzed several Thane Municipal Corporation officers and employees of architecture and private firms who were in good terms with Parmar.

On October 7, 2015, Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry (MCHI) president Suraj Parmar committed suicide by shooting himself with his gun. He has left behind a 15-page suicide note in which he mentioned the names of the four corporators. However, after writing their names he struck through them stating that he did not want these people to harass his family members after his death.

The case is registered with Kasarwadavli police station under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code.
