The Versova Police arrested a 25-year-old watchman of a public park for allegedly molesting a woman. The watchman is said to have touched the woman inappropriately. The accused has been identified as Ramsagar Pal. Pal worked as a full-time watchman at a public park located close to the Seven Bungalows area in Versova.

According to the police, the victim, a 37-year-old writer, is a resident of Andheri (east). "The victim was a regular at the park. While lodging the complaint, she alleged that Pal used to look at her weirdly since November, 2018. She said she felt uncomfortable in his presence. One day, when the victim came to the park, Pal told her it will open in a while and she needed to wait outside for a few minutes," a police officer said on the condition of anonymity.

"Later, Pal deliberately indulged in a scuffle with the victim and tried to touch her inappropriately. Reportedly, he also slapped the woman and abused her. The other watchmen and workers at the park came to her rescue and Pal was then, taken to the Versova Police Station. Pal has been booked under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), and 354 (assault or criminal force on woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code," the officer added.

Pal on being produced at the Bandra Magistrate Court, on Saturday, was sent to jail custody until January 25.
