A group of 60 people took out a silent protest at Azad Maidan near CST against the government's recent verdict on the cancellation of MHT-CET. The crowd consisted of furious parents gathered to revolt against the verdict. The parents contacted each other via social media sites and decided to launch a protest on Friday at 4pm.

A few students were also present for the protest. The parents claimed that they were not against NEET but were against the cancellation of MHT-CET, for which their children had been preparing for so long, they added. They also said that their children were so well versed with the state board syllabus and, hence, were finding it hard to study the new CBSE syllabus for the exam in two months. They also said that if the government had to make these changes, it should have done so six months earlier or implemented the exam from next year.

"My son is so fed up now that he is not at all willing to study the new portion all over again," said one Avinash Patil.

Yashika Shetty, a medical aspirant, said, "I had really worked hard, burnt the midnight oil and what not! Now to see it go all in vain is really depressing."

The parents said that they are hoping this protest gets the government's attention and MHT-CET is conducted this year as well.
