Parents await extension date for RTE online admission

No intimation of extension has been given to the parents applying for the Right to Education (RTE) online admission process for the 25 per cent quota. Although the last date of filing application was March 18, BMC's education department decided to extend the application date till March 23. However, the primary education department had not taken a decision to this effect till filing of this report.

Although the last date of filing application was March 18, BMC's education department decided to extend the application date till March 23. However, the primary education department had not taken a decision to this effect till filing of this report.

According to an official of BMC's education department, the first lottery of the process will take place on March 25.

Till March 18, the total number of applications received fot eh RTE quota is 3,532. The number of accepted applications is 3,070.

When an official of the primary education department, Pune, was contacted on March 17, he claimed that there was no need for an extension of the date.

However, Shambhavi Jogi, education officer, BMC, said: "The applications have come for 271 schools for 11,837 intake capacity. These are for the admission of kindergarten and grade one students' admission. Parents can fill the application for RTE admission process till March 23 now."
