Palghar SP denies rape victims' allegations

After chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had directed the director general of police, Sanjeev Dayal, to take strct action against the officials who not only neglected their duty, but also humiliated two minor rape victimes, the Palghar suprintendent of police have denied all the allegations. Nalasopara police station the, Suvez Haque, Palghar SP, declared that the reports sent by his subordinates were blindly taken as truth. At the conference, Haque claimed that his cops were innocent and that the enquiry reports were based on the statements duly signed by the parents, victims, social workers and councilors.

Meanwhile, on contacting the 12-year-old victim's grandmother, she alleged that the cops mounted pressure on her to give her thumb impression on the statement. She said the officials had demanded Rs2,500 for video recording the statement.

"I agree that I gave my thumb's impression on the statement, but I am illiterate and unknown of the formalities. The police had demanded money for recording the statement. No female officer was present to take the statement and male officials took the details," said the grandmother.

While the 12-year-old girl was made to sit in the police station the whole night and was allowed to go at 7 am in the morning.
