A Mumbai-based travel agent has allegedly duped over 30 people from across the country of almost Rs 3 crore under the pretext of giving them cheap international holiday package. On Tuesday, around 12 victims approached the Bangur Nagar Police Station alleging cheating against a "company" named Enbee Enterprises.

According to victims, the accused promised most of them an expensive tour package for cheap rate and took an advance amount. The victims said the accused sent them an itinerary promising that everything is inclusive in the package. While the accused did not send some victims to tour, those who were taken to the tour were made to pay for accomodation, cruise and food despite having promised that the charge is inclusive of the above.

"We were four persons for the Mauritius trip for Rs 5.5 lakh, which was booked for February but at the last moment, he said that our booking is postponed and it would be rescheduled. However, after few days without even returning the money, he became untraceable," said Dheeraj Giroti, a resident of Pune. "Similarly he has duped over 40 persons from all over India and the police is not cooperating with us," he added.

Another Mumbai based victim Hinesh Khara said, "We were a group of 13-14 persons from the same family and the owner of agency asked us to pay Rs 13 lakh in advance, which we did by cash and cheque. He sent us an itinerary stating that all the expenses are included in the package, however, on reaching we learned that payment was not made for several bookings — from hotels to cruising which we had to pay on reaching. Overall we paid over Rs 10 lakh which was supposed to be paid by him."

"I run a travel business in Mumbai. The owner of the company took flight tickets from me worth Rs 5.52 lakh, however, the cheque, which he had given me got bounced. Similarly, another agent was cheated by him for Rs 32 lakh. We have approached Bangur Nagar police," said Herin Savla.

"We are taking their complaints and probing the matters further," said a police officer from Bangur Nagar Police Station.
