Dissatisfied with their recent transfers, over 100 policemen on Friday demonstrated outside the Police Commissioner's office near Crawford Market.

The recent round of transfers occurred among the lower rung of the Mumbai police, causing widespread disappointment. "Constables residing in western suburbs have been transferred to eastern suburbs. This would pose difficulties in commuting," said a police constable on the condition of anonymity.

Concerned about the issue, the policemen gathered at the Commissioner's office on Friday. The policemen were then directed to Deputy Commissioner of Police (HQ-2) Sunita Thakre-Salunkhe and were asked to give their applications for re-transfers.

"Around 100 policemen have given their applications for reconsideration of their transfers. We are looking into their grievances," DCP Salunkhe told dna.
