Nom Nom brings alive the signature charm that East Asia is known for the world over. The name itself was a draw for me. Good design sensibilities are evident in every small detail of the decor. Easy access and valet parking add to the appeal. As a diner, I personally place great importance on the kind of music (it is can make or mar one's dining experience) and Nom Nom gets it right. The courteous, attentive and helpful staff was a clincher for me.
The menu is a confluence of signature dishes from countries across East Asia. I started off with the Sake Bomb ritual—the drink is a glass of beer with a shot of Sake delicately balanced on chopsticks. Once served, you have to bang the table to topple the Sake right into the beer, and that gives you your Sake Bomb. If Friday nights and large groups are your thing while dining out, Sake Bomb is a must-try. Prawn crackers are recommended with drinks. The Thai curry flavoured steamed fish served in banana leaf deserves a special mention. The basa is steamed to perfection. In sushi, I chose California Rolls. The freshness of the ingredients, which are rolled just before being served, is evident. Light eaters order with caution as the portion of starters do not leave much room for the main course. An alert for foodies: if you enjoy authentic Oriental cuisine, you might be put off by the deliberate mutation of flavours in some dishes in order to appeal to the Indian palette.
The dessert options are limited and feature the usual suspects. I would personally love to see some innovative East Asian desserts. All in all, Nom Nom is worth a try!
