Opposition parties on Friday lashed out at Maharashtra Government alleging that it failed to live up to the people's expectations as the Budget Session of the state legislature passed off "without any substantive work".

"People of the state had high aspirations from this new government. Farmers had a ray of hope that their troubles will be solved. But unfortunately, no justice has been given to farmers. With the conclusion of this session, the hopes of the people have also died down," Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil told reporters.

Vikhe Patil, along with the Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Dhananjay Munde, was addressing reporters at Mantralaya on the conclusion of the Budget session of the state Legislature.

Questioning the intention of the state government over closing 12 toll booths in Maharashtra from the midnight of May 31, Munde alleged that the BJP-led government seems to have given ample time to toll booth operators to approach the courts against the closure of toll nakas.

"The government has been very cunning with some of its decisions. What was the need to close toll nakas from May 31 midnight? It seems as if the government intentionally wanted to give time to toll operators to approach the courts and get a stay on its decision. The government would then conveniently wash its hands off, saying that they are helpless and cannot go against the court order," Munde said.

Vikhe Patil criticised the government for not taking a decision on the issue of reservation of Dhangar and Muslim communities.

"Before coming to power, the government had promised the Dhangars that they would be included in the ST category and given reservation in their first cabinet meet after coming to power. This is the end of the third Assembly session since they came to power. No decision has been taken. The high court had no problem with Muslims getting reservation in educational institutions. But, they let that reservation get nullified too. They have done nothing except duping innocent people with false promises," Vikhe Patil said.

He added that the government took discreet decisions despite the Session being in progress.

"The government suddenly comes out with a notification on Land Ordinance knowing very well that it hasn't got cleared in the Parliament. The opposition had to rake up this issue before the confused government officials and the CM had to take back their notification," he said.

"The session has got over, but the government failed to give people what they were promised. The government has failed to instill confidence that good times are to come in future," Vikhe Patil said.

Munde said he kept waiting till the start of the national anthem at the conclusion of the Budget Session, but the government did not let the Opposition raise people's voice till the end.

"A white paper on the state's finances was tabled on the last day. We did not even get time to comment on it in the House. The white paper clearly shows how strong Maharashtra is since the last decade. Our state is far ahead than other states. But, they kept on saying Maharashtra is in a terrible condition before going to polls," Munde said.

The government was formed amid chaos with its own ally and thus a chaotic governance is currently in progress with zero results, he alleged.
