While the nominations of 2,634 candidates were approved after the scrutiny of a total of 2,774 applications, several nominations including that of official candidates of political parties were rejected due to technical glitches in online registration. These candidates plan to approach the High Court to seek justice. The last date for withdrawing nominations is February 7. Meanwhile, BJP senior corporator Dilip Patel's nomination was cancelled on Saturday from ward 58 as his case of submitting inappropriate documents in the 2012 civic elections is still pending in the High Court.

Sources claim that Dilip Patel, BJP's senior corporator and ex-deputy mayor, had insisted on seeking a ticket for him and his son Sandeep. However, sensing that his application might get rejected, Patel demanded that the party issue an AB form for his son Sandeep as a proxy candidate. As expected, Dilip Patel's nomination was rejected. However, his son Sandeep's nomination was approved as BJP's official candidate.

Apart from this, nominations of a few more candidates were rejected even after registering online and uploading all the required certificates and documents, candidates could not get the print-out which had to be submitted to the returning officer.

Pratiksha Ghuge, who filed her nomination from ward 126 (Ghatkopar West) as the official candidate of Congress was upset as her nomination was rejected because she could not submit the nomination form print-out due to a technical glitch. Interestingly, Ghuge was lucky to get official candidature from Congress at the last minute. She had revolted against the party when she was denied the chairmanship of Ward Committee and joined the BJP in protest. But when she did not get candidature from BJP in Ghatkopar, Ghuge then joined the Shiv Sena and demanded a ticket. However, sainiks opposed the party's decision and threatened to revolt and work against her. Upset about the situation she decided to file nomination as an independent candidate, but a Congress leader offered her a last-minute chance. But Ghuge finally ran out of luck and her nomination was rejected.

"I will go to court. This is injustice to me. It was not my mistake. I had explained to the returning officer that there was a technical issue," Ghuge said. She also informed that two of Congress' and BJP's candidates have also met with a similar fate. Another candidate Digamber Rajaram Arlekar, NCP's official candidate from ward number 196 (Parel) who also faced technical glitches was rejected.
