Online admission registration under RTE delayed

The Right to Education (RTE) admission process delays for the parents from economically weaker section for whom 23 February was decided for registration of their children to seek admission under RTE 25percent quota.

Though the RTE admission process have been started early this year for the students from EWS for 25percent quota admission seats. Initially according to the state education department, schools from across the state were asked to upload details such as entry level, age criteria and number of seats available under RTE on www.rte25admission.maharashtra.gov.in between February 16 and February 21. But the registration process have delayed the process and so now it has been extended for schools till date 27 February.

K. Narayan, secretary of Anudanit Shiksha Bachchao Samiti, said, "I have been getting the calls from the parents from other parts of the state as well. The parents wants to know what is the website where they have to login and register for their child to apply for admission process. I think the process for parents to register online have also delayed, as the schools are still registering."

While the extended dates for schools is 27 February to register, it is not clear when the portal will open for parents to register.

When contacted the education official, Dinkar Temkar, deputy director of primary education, said, "The schools are still registering themselves on the website and so the date for them have been extended till 27 February."
