One-year-old survives accident which killed his parents

A pilgrimage to the famous Mahalakshmi temple in Palghar district turned into a nightmare for a family on Sunday. Three adults died, while a toddler and another adult are recuperating in hospital.

Jaiprakash Yadav, 30 and his wife Neelam Yadav, 27, were travelling with their one-year-old son and a family friend named Shyam Gupta in an auto-rickshaw on Sunday morning. They were returning home to

Vikramgarh when their auto rammed into a truck near the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway in Talwada.

The parents died in the mishap, but the toddler and Gupta managed to survive, and were rushed to hospital.

An official with Palghar police said: "Their son survived the accident and is recuperating in hospital. We registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC and Motor Vehicles Act."
