One more held in banking job racket fraud

The MRA Marg police have arrested one more person in the job racket case wherein the racketeers allegedly claimed to provide jobs to aspirants in reputed Union Bank of India and Reserve Bank of India. The accused have alleged to have duped five people on the pretext of providing them jobs, the police investigation revealed.

The arrested person has been identified as 58-year old Nazirmiyan Ismail Hatodkar, alias Nair. Nair was arrested on Friday and is in police custody till Tuesday.

In the same case, the police had earlier arrested Ismail Hasan Janjirkar alias Jadhav, who claimed to be a police sub-inspector (PSI) from Wadala police station, on May 15. Janjirkar, a resident of Joshi Baug in Azad Nagar area of Thane, is believed to be the mastermind behind the racket.

According to the police, the complainant (name withheld), a Pune resident, had met Janjirkar over a month ago.

"Janjirkar had told the victim that he also works to provide job to the qualified aspirants and claimed to know senior officials from Union and Reserve Bank of India. Falling prey to this trap, the victim urged Janjirkar to provide him a job in a bank and also paid Rs62,000," said an officer from MRA Marg police station.

He added Janjirkar had also given an appointment letter to the victim. "The victim came back to Pune and later made inquiries with the Union bank to ascertain the joining date, when he was told by the bank officials that the appointment letter was bogus. The victim then lodged a complaint against Janjirkar with the police," the officer said.

Police investigation has revealed that Janjikar and Hatodkar used to target job aspirants on the pretext of providing them job in banks. They have as of now duped five persons from Pune to the tune of Rs 4.5 lakh and had also given them bogus appointment letters.
