One held for forcing kin into flesh trade

A 26-year-old woman has been arrested by the Chembur police for allegedly pushing her 19-year-old minor cousin into prostitution. The police have also found Aadhar cards from the victims, which were obtained only to portrayboth of them as majors. Mumbai police's statistics reveal that in 2017, only one minor girl was rescued from prostitution in city, while in past one week, two minors were rescued by police from Chembur itself.

According to the Chembur Police, they had received specific information from human rights organization International Justice Mission about minors being forced into prostitution in Chembur area on Wednesday evening.

"Through this, two young girls belonging to the Bedia Community of Rajasthan, have been rescued from community based prostitution and one female accused who was the pimp has been arrested. We will surely investigate if the Aadhar Cards were procured submitting fake documents," said Assistant Police Inspector Y Shinde from Chembur Police Station.

The police have booked the accused woman on charges of trafficking of minor, living on the earnings of prostitution and attempt of penetrative sexual assault under relevant sections.
