One held for duping people after promising foreign jobs

The Bazarpeth police have arrested a 22-year-old for allegedly duping several people on the pretext of giving them a visa to work in Dubai, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The accused allegedly made forged visiting cards of an overseas manpower recruitment company, and posed as an employer of the company to dupe the victims.

The accused has been identified as Mohammad Tariq Khan (22).

According to the police, Khan allegedly used a logo of another company and printed visiting cards, posed as his father, the owner of the company. On the pretext of giving them an overseas job visa, he took money and passports from the complainants and other victims. The police said, Khan would become untraceable after taking money and documents from the victims. During the interrogation it has been revealed that Khan would use the same modus operandi to dupe people. Several other cases have been registered against him for duping several people in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane.

"After registering the complaint, we traced the accused through his mobile tower location and arrested him from Mankhurd. During his house search we found five passports, forged visiting cards, Rs 1.29 lakh," said Pratap Dighavkar, Additional Commissioner of Police, Thane.
