Sandesh Mengal, a class VIII student, had complained of dysentery and fever during his school hours on Monday. He was a student of Ashram School in Pendharghol, Shahpur.

Anita Mengal, the boy's mother, said, "Sandesh had dal rice for dinner on Sunday and next day we got a call from the school informing that he is running a high temperature. We rushed him to RS Hospital where he was administered saline and other medicines. Next morning we were told that he will be shifted to Thane civil hospital."

A doctor at civil hospital, said, "We are clueless about his death, as his parents say he was fine when they moved him from RS hospital. But on his way, Sandesh stopped breathing. We are waiting for post-mortem reports."

Principal of the school, Gurunath Tiwre said, "As soon as Sandesh came to our office, we gave him a paracetamol and took him to RS Hospital. But it seemed that doctors were not interested in checking him. We were not even given a reason for shifting him to another hospital."

An officer said, "Once we get the post-mortem report, we will register the case accordingly. The parents are not blaming anyone so far."
