The Sir Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy School of Art, Fort, will open its sprawling campus to Lit-O-Fest on February 28 and March 1. The school, known for its culture of creativity, is the perfect setting for a one-of-a-kind festival that will bring together literature across English, Hindi and regional languages. There's art and music too, thus offering a little something for each of the five senses.

The weekend will be brought to life by remarkable, witty, sensitive and brilliant authors, who will engage their audience with reading sessions, debates and discussions, all of which will act as a cultural catalyst. The festival aims to expose audiences from all backgrounds to a constant flow of ideas, featuring live music sessions and interactive workshops.
When asked about the conception of Lit-O-Fest, Smita Parikh, Festival Director, says, "I have attended several literary festivals in India and noticed that most of these events are biased towards the English language. They neglect our national and regional languages. My inclination towards Hindi literature pushed me to take an initiative to restore the pride of this language. This gave birth to the idea of hosting one such literary festival where we can give equal importance, if not more, to all the languages."
The festival offers a fourfold takeaway encompassing Sabha, which will host discussions and workshops; Sammelan, which is an exhibit of art; Sanskriti, which has musical performances and plays and finally, Samman, which felicitates and awards talented individuals who have made a mark in their respective fields.

The Tale Me A Story event will discuss mythological books and whether they are based on theories or tales told by grandmas.
When asked about how to deliver one's best performance, panellist Anand Neelkantan says, "It involves a lot of sleepless nights, rewriting, editing and sitting with your fingers crossed for your book to hit the stands. And then the reader reviews start flowing in. It is a privilege, torture and pleasure at the same time. It is scary and exciting."
National Award winning author of the book Truly Madly Deeply, Faraz Kazi gives his two cents for the budding writer saying, "It's a tough world out there. Never give up; be thick-skinned like a rhino. And most importantly, write for yourself and no one else. Success will follow at its own sweet pace, so be ahead of it."
Both panellists agree that in order to be original one needs a keen eye for observing things and an inherent fascination to learn and be inspired.

The one-of-a-kind festival presents an opportunity to learn and imbibe knowledge from the masters, along with tips to improve one's skills. It also offers exposure to budding writers and gives them a platform alongside the who's who of literature. It also brings publishers and authors together and is thus a well-rounded fest for writers and connoisseurs of language.
