Metro commuters need not stand in queue to get their smart cards recharged. Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) has started an online recharge facility.
"MMOPL has launched the top-up facility of CSC (Contactless Smart Cards) through Internet-enabled mobile phones and computers. The online recharge service will be available to smart card users with over 50 banks. It will be led by ICICI Bank and State Bank of India through their payment gateway services. The commuters will be able to pay from more than 50 banks through netbanking, debit cards and credit cards," read a statement from MMOPL.
Like any other payment of utility bills or recharging pre-paid cellular services, even this facility will be available round the clock, besides checking one's smart card balance as well as validity online.
A similar service is yet to be introduced for the trip-based passes, which may happen in future.
Any commuter wanting online recharge has to follow a few simple steps for availing the service — log on to www.reliancemumbaimetro.com, go to 'My Account' and click on 'Instacharge'. Later, the amount to be recharged will be put up, then redirected to payment getaway, with the final confirmation message getting delivered on the person's mobile phone.
Top it up online
Step 1: Log on to www.reliancemumbaimetro.com, click on My Account and then Instacharge.
Step 2: Enter you unique CSC number provided on the back side of the smart card and enter the amount of recharge required in the multiples of Rs100.
Step 3: Select the mode of payment from the options provided and click on Recharge.
Step 4: At least two hours after the successful online payment, commuters may insert their smart card in any of the TIMs to get the value loaded on it. Commuters will receive an acknowledgment of the payment from the Metro on their registered mobile phone number.
