Fugitive underworld don Ravi Pujari who received major setback after 13 of his men were arrested by the Mumbai crime branch for allegedly plotting to bump off a film producer/director, has once again started making threat calls. On Saturday afternoon, the gangster allegedly called a Muslim scholar from the city and threatened him of dire consequences.

As per scholar Gulzar Azmi, he received a call on his office landline at around 3pm on Saturday. The caller allegedly identified himself as Ravi Pujari and threatened to harm Azmi.

"It was just a few seconds' conversation and I was told that I would be in trouble," said Azmi, adding: "I immediately approached the JJ Marg police station and gave a written complaint. Taking the seriousness of the issue into consideration, I was provided with one guard by the police,"

According to sources in the crime branch, an official complaint was forwarded to the Anti Extortion Cell of Mumbai crime branch.

Interestingly, the gangster allegedly did not give any specific reason behind targetting Azmi. A senior official from Mumbai crime branch said: "We are investigating the case, but first want to verify whether the caller was indeed Pujari. Meanwhile, the local police station has already provided Azmi with a guard."
