Now, you don’t have to go too far to rant about the traffic jams you face every day, or the bad roads in your constituency. iForIndia.org, a web portal which will help citizens voice their opinions on local issues and also present a report card of elected representatives, was launched on Monday.

Ankur Garg, an IIM-A alumnus who came up with the idea for the website, said, “Children get report cards, but elected representatives don’t. So we decided to come up with report cards for MPs, MLAs, and even for chief ministers and the prime minister.”

The portal is expected to provide political news, data, and insight into all our elected representatives.

The report card aims to bring accountability into politics by allowing citizens to express their views on these representatives and rate them on the site based on various factors such as law and order, basic infrastructure, health, tourism, electricity, sanitation, developmental investment and corruption.

The report card will be divided into four broad categories: basic needs, governance and administration, growth and progress and reputation.

The website will also ensure that the opinion polls are not rigged by ensuring that genuine mobile numbers are submitted. Besides, the website will also ensure that its funding sources are transparent.
