No touts, more parking space make RTO a better place

Barring unauthorised persons from entering Tardeo Regional Transport Office (RTO) has thrown up some surprising results. In a relief to transport officials, a large share of their parking space on the premises got freed up due to lesser cars in the compound.

Why was this measure taken?
Starting Tuesday, Tardeo RTO has been disallowing entry of unauthorised persons inside the office premises. The measure has been initiated to deter touts from walking into the complex, to lessen their interference in day-to-day functioning of the RTO.

"Having strictly implementing this rule, we were in for a surprise. A lot of the parking space inside the complex was suddenly available," said KT Golani, an official with Tardeo (island city) RTO.

Who all have been using the space?
Golani added, "People from the neighbourhood, or those visiting the near-by markets who find difficult to locate vacant parking slots or those who want to avoid pay and park facilities must have been parking their vehicles for free inside the RTO complex. Now, such people too cannot enter, therefore freeing up space to conduct tests."

How many were asked to leave?
On the first day of checking, around 650 entered the RTO for their respective work, out of which around 150, including touts without valid identification cards, were asked to leave.

Authorised people asked to enter At the entrance of the Tardeo RTO, a team has been posted for security screening. "The PRO's room has been converted into a security office. Only authorised people having official work are being permitted to enter, after making an entry in the security register," added Golani.

The touts on the RTO office premises used to pressurise applicants to get work done through them for a handsome earning.
