An RTI applicant was surprised to find out that there are no records of action taken against policemen for violating the rule of wearing a helmet while riding a two-wheeler. He was also surprised that the city police did not have any details on what constitutes the standard helmet.

"Almost every citizen has seen officials not wear helmets while riding two-wheelers. But it was surprising that the traffic police does not have information about them," said Bhaskar Prabhu, an RTI activist.

Information about traffic officials and BEST bus drivers violating rules was stated to be unavailable.

"If those supposed to implement the law are violating it, then there have to be records. They risk their lives by not wearing a helmet. There needs to be disciplinary action against such officials," said Prabhu.

Saurabh Tripathi, DCP (traffic), said: "I am also the appellate authority so the applicant should come to me. I am not sure if such information should be in such a format. If the applicant is aggrieved, he can also approach the commission."
